Senate
Why is Senator Little not breaking with party politics and joining the Democrats so that the business of the people of New York can be taken care of? What kind of leader is she? We need a leader who isn't afraid to work with other people. She needs to put party politics aside and work toward getting things done for New Yorkers, especially the New Yorkers in the North Country. With all of the extra time she has on her hands right now, let's hope she is rethinking her position on same-sex marriage. Equality for everyone, senator.

Fox
To the person who complained about Fox news being broadcast in a local eating establishment, complaining about indigestion. What's the matter, does hearing the undiluted truth about current events make you sick to your stomach? If so, please feel free to watch MSNBC, or CNN, they surely will shroud you from the truth that Fox reports. Or simply go somewhere else to eat.

Flowers
Is there any community-minded youth group in Peru — Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, church group or 4-H club — that could plant a few six-packs of annuals at the Peru Post Office? Boxes and soil are already in place. Only plants and willing hands are needed.

Car work
I am a technician, and I would like people to understand I am not here to help you all the time with your cars for free. I get tired, I have a family, and I don't know why you assume because you know me, that I owe you repairs, labor and parts on your vehicle. Pay just like everyone else has to.

Pothole
Thanks to the City DPW for patching the pothole in front of my Center City house, but I wonder if they could take the extra minute to sweep up the tarry gravel bits that they left behind. I had to remove the tar from my shoes with paint thinner. And speaking of gravel, would it be too much to ask the contractors to sweep the gravel from the road project on Brinkerhoff and Oak Street back into the site, as opposed to letting it spill over down the street? I noticed the same issue at the Walgreens site uptown.

Donaldson
With the Republicans providing a laundry list of possible candidates for the congressional seat vacated by John McHugh and some Democrats offering a potential name or two, there is one diamond in the North Country rough right from our own area east of Watertown, whose record speaks volumes, credibility speaks more and his heart and soul is for North Country working folks: Cliff Donaldson for Congress!

Yes! More proof that there are still compassionate people in the North Country. A very special thank-you goes out to the person who stopped and gave a ride to an older gentleman to Lake Champlain Cardiology on Tom Miller Road on June 17. He is a victim of dementia and had wandered from his residence. Because of your unselfish act he was able to get the care he needed. Thank you again from his family.

Rummage sale
A suggestion to the Redford Church annual rummage sale: Price items clearly. As I made my way from your rummage sale on my way to the many others being held on the same day, I ran across so many disappointed people who vow not to return ever again because of the lack of pricing, myself included. An answer such as, "Oh, fairly reasonable" or "Less than a dollar" was the norm. It was obvious the time and effort spent on organizing the place (kudos there!). May I suggest labeling tables or a sign with prices?

Choice
If town supervisors are elected and employed by the town, why are they allowed a choice between town insurance and county insurance? There are people who have worked for the county for 30 plus years, and they are required to pay for their health insurance. On top of their salary with the town, they also receive an annual salary from the county. There are many people who make less than the supervisors, and they have to pay $90/month for a family health insurance plan. Why should the supervisors be exempt from paying their portion?

Just a reminder the next time some union insists that we buy Made in the USA. Obama gave the UAW controlling shares of Chrysler stock. He gave the automaker billions of taxpayer money to save American jobs. With unemployment set to hit 10 percent, the first factories Chrysler will put back to work are in Mexico and Canada. Now that's change we can believe in.

Cell phone
I am bothered, actually extremely annoyed, when someone talks loudly on a cell phone in a public setting. I feel that telephone conversations that are personal in nature should be held in private. I recently was in line at a grocery store, and during my wait I had to endure a loud one-sided conversation by the person behind me. Unless it's an emergency, people should refrain from cell phone use. There is one fast-food restaurant that posts the sign: "Cell phone users will have to go to the back of the line." What a good idea.
