Crazy 8 to open Wednesday

PLATTSBURGH — The racks are filling up at Champlain Centre mall's newest addition, children's clothing store Crazy 8, exciting local parents and grandparents.

Located beside FYE, the shop opens Wednesday and will celebrate with special discount and giveaways for their children’s clothing that sizes from newborn through 14.

The first Crazy 8 store opened in August 2007 and there are more than 290 of the retail shop and its outlet stores around the United States.

“Crazy 8 is a welcome addition to the Centre and fills our need for quality and fashionable children's clothing at reasonable price points,” General Manager David Napolitan said in a statement. "Shoppers are going to love the bright and colorful store.”

Liz Hawks said her and her friends have all been talking about it. She said she loves Crazy 8 because when they have sales, she can score some great deals.

Even though the prices are cheap, the quality is not, Ed Hawks added in. He said Crazy 8 products have a higher quality than the usual department stores.

Because of this, they’re happy to see a location opening locally.

“We don’t have to drive across the lake or three hours away,” Hawks said.

Katherine Greeno said she feels restricted to Target and Old Navy for children items and the two new stores will provide a greater selection of products for her family.

Hearing about it a couple of months ago, she said she is pleased there will finally be a kids store in the mall.

'AGE-APPROPRIATE'

Owned by the Gymboree Corporation, Crazy 8 is its newest and fastest-growing brand, the release said. Its addition to the mall, Neopolitan said in an earlier interview, pairs nicely with another kids' clothing retailer, The Children's Place, that aims to open in late spring adjacent to Foot Locker and near JCPenney.
