Dunkin' Donuts in new Good Guys convenience

PLATTSBURGH — Still Good Guys, but with a sweet new surprise.

The newly renovated Good Guys convenience store and Shell station, located at 6054 Route 22 in the Town of Plattsburgh, now has a Dunkin’ Donuts. Good Guys owner Bryan Yanulavich said the new convenience store opened Jan. 27 and the Dunkin’ Donuts opened Feb. 8.

It is Colchester, Vt.-based Ray Aley’s 16th Dunkin’ Donuts franchise in Clinton, Essex, Franklin and St. Lawrence counties.

PROVIDES FULL MENU

The restaurant has a longer, narrower prep area to fit in the space available, but they made it work.

“We have a full Dunkin’ Donuts menu,” Aley said.

One of his employees, Tawnya Hanson, told him about the renovations and suggested he take a look. Aley stopped in and met with Yanulavich and discussions went well, so they signed a letter of intent in October.

Yanulavich and his sons, Matt and Mark, did about 99 percent of the renovation work to what was the Cadyville Auto side of the building during the past year. Aley said work included an extensive water-filtration system.

“That way we have the best water for our coffee and tea,” he said.

Joey Reeves is the manager of the Dunkin’ Donuts. He said customers have welcomed the new location.

“A lot of people are saying they are grateful they don’t have to go out of their way,” Reeves said.

He has been with Aley’s team for 12 years, which includes 10 years at Skyway Plaza and then Cornelia Street. The new store has 10 employees.

Aley said Reeves and a cousin, Megan Brown, manager of the Saranac Lake location, are soon to be featured in a Dunkin’ Donuts commercial that will air on WPTZ.

HAS ADIRONDACK DECOR

Good Guys interior has a distinctly Adirondack theme, with natural wood beams and walls. Tile floors will make for easier cleanup and less wear and tear.
