John Pozzi shoots hole-in-one
LAKE PLACID — John Pozzi recorded a hole-in-one Oct. 29 on the Links Course of the Lake Placid Club. He used a pitching wedge to sink his tee shot on the 136-yard ninth hole. Kevin Brelia and Todd Lindsay witnessed the ace.

ESG snowshoe qualifiers scheduled
PERU — The 2010 New York Empire State Winter Games will be held Feb. 19-21 in Lake Placid. Individuals interested in qualifying for the snowshoe sprints must complete at least two qualifying races.

The sprint races are at distances of 100, 200, 400 and 1,500 meters. You may qualify in the 100, 200 and 400 and/or the 1,500. All qualifiers are free open to all New York State residents ages 12 and over.

The qualifiers will be held Nov. 28, Dec. 5, Jan. 2 and Jan. 9 at Laphams Mills Recreation Park in Peru, beghinning at 11 a.m. The top 20 qualifying times for each age group/gender categort for the sprints/ 1,500 will be invited to compete in the Winter Games.

Also, a 5-kilometer snowshoe race will be included in the Games and all who complete one 5K qualifier will be eligible. The 5K qualifiers will be held Dec. 27 and Jan. 16, at 11 a.m., at Cadyville Recreation Park, 114 Goddeau Road.

A listing of qualified athletes will be posted after Feb. 7 on the ESG Web site. However, new this year, ESG qualifiers will have to register on line and pay a registration fee and the annual ESSRA membership fee to compete.

Kerr, Hewitt lead Bobby's to victory
PLATTSBURGH — Dave Kerr and Phil Hewitt shared Player of the Week honors in the Plattsburgh Wiffleball League Thursday night after leading Bobby's Lounge to a 12-9 victory over Lashway's Meat Market. Kerr had five hits with a home run while Hewitt hammered out four hits with a homer. John Record was 4-for-4 with a home run for Lashway's.

Kiel Peryea collected five hits and Chug Hemingway, three, to lead The Prowlers to a 7-6 win over Trim's Boys. JT Van Valkenberg homered for Trim's.

Jeff Norton belted a round-tripper with Reilly Lawliss and Shane Perrotte contributing two hits apiece in Subject to Blackout's 6-1 win over Trim's Boys. Trim's had three scattered hits.

Peabody's picked up a forfeit victory over Lashway's Meat Market.

AuSable boosters to meet Monday
CLINTONVILLE — The AuSable Valley Booster Club will hold its monthly meeting Monday, at 6 p.m., in the high-school cafeteria. Anyone interested in attending is welcome.

AuSable schedules preseason meetings
CLINTONVILLE — AuSable Valley Athletics will hold its winter preseason coaches and parents meeting on Thursday, Nov. 12. Coaches will meet from 4-6 p.m. with the parent meeting following at 6:30 p.m. All parents and athletes who plan on participating in a winter sport at AVCS are encouraged to attend.

Bowman tosses 745 set in youth league
PLATTSBURGH — Jonathan Bowman, a 12-year-old bowling in the North Bowl Junior-Major-Senior League, rolled the second 700 series of his bowling career with a 263-256-226-745. Bowman carries a 207 average in the league.

E'town-Lewis to hold coaches' meeting
ELIZABETHTOWN — The Eiizabethtown-Lewis Central School Athletic Department will hold a meeting for all basketball coaches on Monday, Nov. 9 at 6 p.m. in the conference room.

A mandatory meeting for basketball coaches, students and their parents is scheduled to take place at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium.

ADK lists coming activities
PLATTSBURGH — The Algonquin Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club (ADK) invites the public to join its members for a climb of Hopkins in the Keene Valley area on Saturday, Nov. 14. For more information, contact leader Elie Bijou, at 873-2119.

Connelly bowls 299 in seniors league
PLATTSBURGH — Bill Connelly, bowling for the Barbershoppers in the T.G.I.F. League at North Bowl Lanes last Friday, tossed a 299 game in the middle of a 706 series, leacing a solid 10 pin on his 12th shot. He opened with a 226 game and closed with a 181.

Peru JV girls finish season unbeaten
PERU — The Peru junior varsity girls capped a perfect 16-0 season with a 2-0 victory over Saranac Lake in their final game this season.

The team members are: Kenna Agoney, Nikkin Breton, Maddy Barber, Sonja Brown, Kailie Currier, MaCayla Duffina, Hayden Daughrety, Jordan Favereau, Callie Garcia, Abby Higgins, Anna Hogan, Kelsey Kotzur, Emily Larsen, Hallie Lashway, Emily Major, Mary Mazzella, Samantha Martin, Paige Moore, and Ashley Sardella.
