PLATTSBURGH -- The Plattsburgh Cardinals and Lyon Mountain Miners, with commanding leads in their respective divisions, look to wrap up division crowns today in the Champlain Valley Baseball League.
The Cardinals (14-2), who own a four-game lead over the Meron's/Renzi's Expos (10-6) and Hockey Plus Padres (10-6) with four games left in the regular season, can wrap up first place in the American Division with a win today when they travel to Saranac to take on the Padres.
The Miners (13-3), meanwhile, lead the second-place C.R. Tunes Mudhens (7-7) by five games in the National Division and can clinch first with a win today when they journey to Plattsburgh to oppose the Fourth Ward A's (3-11) at Lefty Wilson Field.
Both the Cardinals and Miners swept twinbills last Sunday, with Plattsburgh defeating the Loreman's Royals, 11-0 and 9-2 and the Miners taking two from the Adirondack Timberjaxx, 6-3 and 15-7.
Hockey Plus and Meron's/Expos split their doubleheader last weekend, and the C.R. Tunes vs. Fourth Ward twinbill was postponed due to a wet field in Saranac.
In the other two doubleheaders today, the Royals (0-16) host the Expos at South Acres Field, while the Timberjaxx (5-11) entertain the Mudhens in Tupper Lake.

Bombard tossed a seven-hit shutout as the Padres recorded an 8-0 win over the Expos in the first game of a doubleheader at Chip Cummings Field.

Meacham, who had two hits in the game, rapped a three-run double in the top of the seventh to break a 3-3 tie and give the Miners their 6-3 win over the Timberjaxx in the first game of a twinbill.
