HOUSTON — A Houston waiter whose car was ruined in recent storm flooding has received a $5,000 tip on a $27 lunch bill.
Greg Rubar says he's humbled by it all.
Two regulars at D'Amicos Italian Market Cafe left the cash tip on Saturday after hearing about Rubar's misfortune. He says his car was damaged several weeks ago during high water blamed on heavy rain.
Rubar said Tuesday that he's been taking a bus to the restaurant where he's worked for 16 years. He plans to use the tip to buy a vehicle.
The two generous customers have asked to remain anonymous.
