Plattsburgh rifle team places third

PLATTSBURGH — The Rough Riders Rifle Team of the Plattsburgh Rod & Gun Club took third place during week 8 of the Vermont Winter Postal League. The team fired a score of 1,558, let by the shooting of Peter Visconti with a 395. Visconti currently has the second highest average in the league.

The Junior Rough Riders came in 7th this week with its top shooter Andrew Visconti, who fired a 382 this week.

Relay for Life fundraiser set for Saturday

PLATTSBURGH — The Rehab Warriors will hold on a spin-a-thon/walk-a-thon Saturday to raise money for the Relay for Life. The fundraiser will be from 9 a.m. to noon at the CVPH Wellness Center. The cost is $15.00 and more donations are welcome.

The spin bikes are first come first serve, with a sign up sheet at the Wellness Center front desk. If you want to bring your own trainer and road bike feel free. If you don’t feel comfortable spinning/walking for 3 hours you can relay it with a team!.

CVPH rehabiliation will also be present to offer information regarding specialized services for running, posture/back care, vestibular rehabilitation, pelvic floor rehab and our pediatrics program.

There will have baked goods for sale, a rehab recipe book, and raffle tickets available.

Lumber Jills to host Syracuse on Saturday

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh Lumber Jills roller derby team will take on the Battery Brigade of Syracuse Saturday at the City Gym and Recreation Center, 52 U.S. Oval. Doors open at 5 p.m. with first whistle at 6 p.m.

The event will have a St. Patrick’s Day theme with spectators encouraged to wear green.

The Jills will offer food, including pizza, while Olive Ridley’s will be in charge of the beer garden as well as hosting the after-game featuring Party Wolf.

Tickets are $10, pre-sale, and $12 at the door, and $5 for children 5-12. Children under 5 get in free.

Pre-sale tickets are available at North Country Co-Op, Body Art, or Convoy’s Organics.
