The Plattsburgh High baseball team faced a seven-run deficit before two innings could be completed Tuesday.

The Hornets (0-2) dropped their second game in as many days, falling to Spring Mills of West Virginia, 7-1, at the Mingo Bay Baseball Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

“Jack (Tolosky) struggled with his command, but Alex Follmer and Dan Hartman did a great job picking him up,” Plattsburgh High coach Jim Manchester said. “You take away the five-run first inning and we were right in it. Jack will go (Wednesday), and he will come through with a better effort.

“Offensively, we are still a work in progress. Garrett Manchester just missed a home run. Shawn Courson had a single for our two hits.”

Cody Hammond was credited with the win for the Cardinals (5-13), which have already played 18 games. Hunter Munson was 3-for-4 at the plate.

Ben Wright and Bryant Scheuch each hit doubles for Spring Mills.

Garrett Manchester slugged the Hornets’ only extra-base hit, a double.
