NAC edges Seton Catholic in girls' NBL crossover

Taylor Durnin scored 13 points to lead Northern Adirondack past Seton Catholic in a girls’ Northern Basketball League crossover game Tuesday.

The Bobcats built a 25-13 lead by halftime and then held on as the Knights surged in the second half.

Rachael Venne scored 12 for Northern Adirondack, and Aubrey Kerr added seven.

“We played a well-balanced game, and we’re excited to get the win,” Northern Adirondack coach Jess Barnhart said.

Kelli Ryan paced Seton Catholic with 11 points.

Keene 59, Chazy 34

CHAZY— The Beavers had four players in double figures —led by Hanna Whitney with 19 — as they defeated the Eagles.

“Keene is a great team that can shoot under pressure,” Chazy coach Liz Garrand said. “They should do well in the postseason.”

Elaina Smith scored 16 for Keene, Tucker Geiger had 14 and Naomi Peduzzi added 10.

Allison Tatro powered the Eagles’ offense with 16 points, and she also grabbed 10 rebounds. Rachel Pombrio had six steals.

“My girls moved the ball well (Tuesday) and took good shots,” Garrand said. “However, the strong rebounding and high shot percentage of the Keene girls kept us battling from behind.”

Northeastern Clinton 63, Peru 59 (OT)

PERU — Brendan Boutin’s game-tying 3-pointer off the backboard with seconds remaining in regulation helped the Cougars to an overtime session.

From there, Northeastern Clinton was able to outscore the Indians by a 9-5 margin for the victory.

“(Adam) Khater contributed throughout the night and scored five points in overtime to give Northeastern Clinton the win,” Peru coach John Clemons said. “Both teams played a great game, and I give our boys credit for fighting back and not giving up.”

Joe Murphy paced the Cougars with a game-high 20 points. Khater (15) and Boutin (14) combined for 29 points in the win.

Tyler Lemza led the charge for the Indians with 19 points and five steals. Conor Casey accumulated 15 points and five assists.

PORT HENRY — Adam Jaquish had 14 points, while five other Vikings registered seven or more points in the victory.

“We played well in the third quarter and increased our lead,” Moriah coach Brian Cross said. “We shared the basketball well, and we played good team defense.”

Casey DiNicola paced the Blue Bombers with five points. Davis Moore added four points in the loss.
