Jaquish helps Moriah edge Seton Catholic in boys' NBL

Tyler Pratt knocked down a pair of free throws with 19 seconds left to give Moriah a three-point lead, and the Vikings held off Seton Catholic for a 60-57 victory in boys’ Northern Basketball League play Wednesday.

Adam Jaquish led Moriah with 20 points, 18 rebounds and 4 blocks. Taylor Slattery scored 13, Noah Gilbo had 12 and Pratt finished with six.

The Knights led by a point at halftime, and then the Vikings outscored them 20-5 in the third. Seton Catholic’s 15-point fourth quarter wasn’t quite enough to catch Moriah.

Kaden Baugh had 14 points and five assists for the Knights, and Chris Kustos scored 15 and swiped four steals. Adam Tedford added 11 points, while Keagan Briggs blocked four shots.

Westport 52, Chazy 36

WESTPORT — Anderson Gay put up 14 points and Westport played tough defense as it defeated Chazy.

Westport led by seven after three quarters and closed the game with an 18-8 run as Chazy got into foul trouble in the fourth.

“The whole team was working hard on defense for most of the game, which contributed to our win,” Westport coach Ike Tyler said. “Chazy played hard and is very well coached. They never gave up.”

Ryan Davis had 14 rebounds and 12 points for Westport, while Thomas Mero scored 13. Gay added nine rebounds.

“Thomas Mero played an excellent game at the point distributing the ball (six assists) and running the offense to go along with nine rebounds,” Tyler said.

Hayden Guay played well for Chazy, totaling 15 points.

NORTH CREEK — The Jaguars held the Mountaineers to five points in the fourth quarter as they slipped past them for the win.

Dylan Moore led Johnsburg with 12 points, and Clayton Smith scored 10.

Trevor Moulton had 13 points for Minerva/Newcomb, and Alex Ruzbacki chipped in eight.
