The Lake Placid boys scored late in the first half and early in the second half for a 2-0 victory over Seton Catholic in Northern Soccer League action Wednesday afternoon.

The Blue Bombers opened the scoring with 1:55 left in the first half when Pat Kane fed the ball to Stuart Baird, who beat two defenders and drove a low shot inside the far post.

Then with just 2:40 gone in the second half, Nzoni Thompson sent the ball into the box, and Andrew Meister scored from close range.

The Blue Bombers held a 14-13 advantage in shots on goal, with Chris Kordziel making 13 saves for the shutout. Keagen Briggs stopped 11 shots for the Knights.

“A 40-minute delay due to thunderstorms didn’t take away from a great contest between Class C rivals,” Lake Placid coach Stuart Hemsley said. “Both teams’ goalkeepers and defenders were kept busy by talented forward play, especially from Seton’s Adam Tedford and Kaden Baugh.”

The Knights’ best opportunity to score came late in the contest when Tedford drove a 30-yard shot off the crossbar.
