Nicole Sample and Haley Faubert lead Northeastern Clinton to a 2-1 win over Saranac Lake in the other semi. NCCS goes on to win the B title with a 2-0 victory on goals by Brittany Jarvis and Michelle Gaudreau.

Chris Gondek scores his 31st goal of the season and Sean Fenner adds another as Chazy beats Wells 2-0 to win the MVAC boys’ soccer title. Sean Robinson posts the shutout.
Jen Payton and Lisa Scheller score goals, leading Lake Placid to a 2-1 triumph over Keene in the MVAC girls’ final. Amy Hickey scores for Keene.

Kellie Grinnell scores twice and Nicki Salstead, once, while Nicki Moore stars in goal as as Ticonderoga shocks NAC in Class C action.
Val Mildon scores and Toni Patnode, Lynette Duval, Joy Kramer and keeper Traci Patnode star defensively as fifth-seed Crown Point upsets No. 1 seed Newcomb 1-0 in the Class D playoffs.
Eighth-grader Kelli O’Connell scores at 5:15 of the second overtime to lift MAI to a 1-0 victory over Beekmantown.

Eddie Merrens, Tim Kelley and John Garrant score in the shootout to give PHS a 3-2 win over Peru and the Hornets their first Section VII title in boys’ soccer. The PHS girls also claim their first soccer crown, beating Peru 2-0 on shootout goals by Karen Hansen and Mary Buck and Jill Provost’s 22 saves.
Former MAI star Seena Ferrara leads Plattsburgh State (21-4) to its first tournament championship in women’s volleyball as the Cardinals capture the Potsdam Invitational.

Pat Ward and Mark Smith score, lifting North Country CC to a 2-0 victory over Herkimer CC and giving the Saints their fourth straight Mountain Valley Collegiate Conference soccer title.

Jim Fogarty throws 2 touchdown passes to Joe Roy and Dick Sheffield returns a punt for a score as Lake Placid defeats Beekmantown 26-0 to wrap up the CVL Class B football crown. Pete Sears and John Beattie catch TD passes.
Tom Pelkey scores twice and Larry Dragoon connects from Wayne Harvey as Altona repeats as Section VII Class C soccer champ with a 3-1 victory over Keene. Tom Whitney scores for the Beavers. Gary Dragoon stops 22 shots for Altona while Dick Atwood stars on defense.

Macey Shapiro, Ray Henderson and Clark Everleth star as Mount Assumption downs previously unbeaten Ticonderoga 19-8.
70 YEARS AGO (1943)
Ronald “Chitz” O’Hara scores 2 touchdowns — one on a 35-yard end run — to lead St. John’s to a 12-7 upset of PHS. Doug MacMillan, playing his last game for the Irish, inspires St. John’s to the comeback victory. Gene Pavone’s interception sets up the game-winning score. PHS scores first on an amazing catch of a tipped ball by Arnold LaPlant. Bob Casey nearly comes up with the interception on the play.
