Mariners grateful

TO THE EDITOR: The Clinton County Senior and Junior Mariners 2013 season has come to another successful conclusion.

Both teams won the District IV Championships, with the senior team advancing to the State Tournament where they finished as state runner-up. These fine young men represented Clinton County and the entire Mariners organization with pride and class.

We want to thank the following American Legion Posts: West Plattsburgh Post 1619 (Mike Rock, Hummer Rock, Al Daniels, Bob Way) and all the ladies of Post 1619 for hosting another outstanding year-end banquet; and Lyon Mountain Post 1623 (Ron Chase, Tom Quay, Jimmy Grogan and the House Committee), AuSable Forks Post 504, Saranac Post 1618, Dannemora Post 852 and Chazy Post 769 for their continued support.

Special thanks to: Dean Newhard (umpire assigner); Justyn Gordon and the crew from City Recreation Department; Mayor Donald Kasprzak and the Common Council for allowing us to hold another street drive; Plattsburgh Distributing for making our signs; John Coryer and the Press-Republican for their outstanding coverage; Larry Ewald for Papero Field usage for our tournament; the Plattsburgh City Fire Department for supplying ice for our tournament; Roger and Connie Barnard for being our team photographers; Friehofers Bakery Outlet for their generous donation for our concession stand; Vicky Tolosky, Don Slyman and Jamie Ormsby for their hard work running our concession stand; Thom Loreman and his staff for their outstanding service; Stewart’s Stores (South Catherine Street and Cumberland Head Corners) for your donations for our benefit dinner.

To my entire coaching staff: Matt Tolosky, Mike Rascoe, Dale Favreau, John Coryer, Gary Duquette, Hector Duquette and Bill Hunt; and the entire community for your generous donations and continued support.

This community makes this program one of the elite American Legion programs in this state.
