SARANAC LAKE — A Saranac Lake man was charged Thursday with driving while his ability was impaired.

Brian R. Todd, 37, was arrested following an investigation by Saranac Lake Police into a personal injury accident, the Saranac Lake Police Department said in a press release.

Todd was driving on Lake Street at about 5:50 p.m. Wednesday when he struck an unoccupied parked vehicle, Saranac Lake Police Chief Bruce Nason said.

Police determined that Todd was under the influence of prescription medication while he was driving, the release said.

Todd’s passenger, Alexandria Lafave, 24, of Lake Placid sustained minor injuries and was taken to Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake for treatment, Nason said.

Todd was released on an appearance ticket for Saranac Lake Village Court.

He was neither in the custody of the Essex County Sheriff’s Department or the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department Friday, according to the departments.

CHESTERFIELD — A Keeseville man was charged with car theft March 8.

William R. Bombard, 38, was arrested at 34 Hollywood Ave. in the Town of Chesterfield at 3:14 p.m. March 8, according to a State Police blotter entry.

Bombard was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny of an automobile valued at more than $1,000, a felony, and giving a false written statement, a misdemeanor.

The Chesterfield Town Court could not be reached Friday for the status of Bombard’s case.

He was not in the custody of the Essex County Sheriff’s Department Friday.

Bombard had posted cash bail in March, according to a State Police blotter entry.


LAKE PLACID — At least one person sustained minor injuries in a two-car accident Wednesday.

James Strong, 40, of Jay and Reed Abbott, 55, of Keene were driving on Mirror Lake Drive near Taylor Way in the Village of Lake Placid, when a large soda that one of the drivers was holding between his legs fell, and when he reached down to pick it up, one car struck the other head-on, Ray Brook-based Police said.

Police could not distinguish which car struck the other from the police report.

No further information was available.

WESTVILLE — A Westville teen was injured in an all-terrain vehicle accident April 27.

Tabitha K. Doolittle, 14, was driving an ATV in an easterly direction in the yard of 3979 State Route 37 in the Town of Westville when she failed to negotiate the ATV around a tree and struck the tree, Malone-based State Police said.

Doolittle was not an experienced ATV driver, police said.

She was taken to Alice Hyde Medical Center after she complained of pain to her left shoulder, police said.

No tickets were issued.

BOMBAY — A North Bangor woman was injured April 25 when a turkey went through the windshield of her car while she was driving, police said.

Emma D. Jacques, 66, was traveling west on County Route 4 in the Town of Bombay shortly before 6:07 p.m. when a turkey entered the roadway from the south and crashed through Jacques’s windshield, striking her in the face, Malone-based State Police said.

Jacques was transported to Alice Hyde Medical Center for treatment of a broken eye socket and facial lacerations, police said.

No tickets were issued.
