OWENS - A Mass of Christian burial was concelebrated Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, from St. John's Church in Plattsburgh for Lewis W. Owens, 89, formerly of Lake Forest Senior

Living in Plattsburgh and formerly of Mineola, N.Y., who died Sunday, Dec. 2 at the CVPH Medical Center. Rev. Timothy Canaan, Pastor of St. John's Church, celebrated the Mass. Rev. Bill Edwards, retired, Rev. Normand Cote, retired and Rev. Bill Gordon, retired, concelebrated the Mass, assisted by Deacon Jack Cogan. Altar servers were Sherman Luck, Tom Rennell and Gary Ryan. Lewis's family placed the pall. Son, Bill Owens placed the crucifix. Daughter-in-law, Jane Owens placed the rosary. His grandchildren, Tara Antonipillai, Jenna Owens and Brendan Owens gave remarks of remembrance of Lewis's life. Granddaughters, Tara Antonipillai and Jenna Owens read from scripture. Members of Lewis's family presented the funeral gifts. Family members and friends were pallbearers. U.S. Air Force "VTANG" and American Legion Post 20 presented full military honors. Burial followed in St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh, where Rev. Timothy Canaan read committal prayers.
