CHAZY — The Chazy boys’ soccer team picked up where it left off last year with a season-opening 4-1 victory over Plattsburgh High on Friday during first-round action in the Frankie Garrow Memorial Soccer Tournament.
A highlight of the win was a goal scored by Dylan Garrow, the brother of former Chazy soccer player Frankie Garrow, who died in a car accident in 2009.

Josh Barriere and Hayden Guay each scored a goal and added an assist for the Eagles. Barriere and Guay tallied goals 25 seconds apart midway through the first half.
Garrett Frady cut the Hornets’ deficit in half in the second stanza before Garrow and Derek Drake scored 1:13 apart in the final 10 minutes of regulation to help Chazy pull away.
Trent Blais and Austin Gravelle combined for six saves in net for Chazy, which held an 18-8 shot advantage. Mike Stetz stopped 12 shots for Plattsburgh High.
Chazy will play Beekmantown, a 4-0 winner over Canton in tonight’s 7 p.m. title game. PHS and Canton tangle in the 5 p.m. consolation.

The Eagles spread the wealth around in their season-opening shutout of the Golden Bears.
Ian Pummell and Alex Proper tallied in the opening half, while Ryan Waterbury and Zach Bingel scored in the second stanza.
Skye Dominy picked up two assists for Beekmantown, which held a 22-7 advantage in shots on goal.
Matt LaClair was in net for the shutout with seven saves and Scott Wight stopped eight shots for Canton.
