PLATTSBURGH — The Beekmantown boys’ hockey team kicked off its home opener with a statement, outscoring LaSalle Institute 5-0 in the first period and adding another in the third period for a 6-0 non-conference win at the Ameri-Can North Sports Center Friday night.
Brendon Carnright opened the scoring early in the first off a pass from Austin Bradish. Carnright would get his second goal six minutes later but not before Nathan Foster tallied his first goal off assists by Skye Dominy and goalie Dustin Plumadore.
Foster would find the back of the net again at the 12:17 mark when Kyle Constanty sent a puck up the side to Foster, who fired a shot to the far side of the net for the score.
Less than a minute later, the Eagles would capitalize on some transition play when Cole Carter found the twine with a wrist shot, assisted by Brandon Buksa and Matt LaClair, to take a 5-0 lead exiting the first period.
The final goal of the game came with 2:07 left to play. Bradish sent a well-timed pass to Buksa, who made it 6-0.
Plumadore grabbed the shutout win between the posts for Beekmantown while recording seven saves.
“I’m so proud of our team’s defense,” Eagles’ coach Justin Frechette said. “When you get a shutout, it’s a total team effort. We came out and used our speed and systems to get the win.”
