SARANAC — A maple sugar house was destroyed by fire Friday afternoon.

No one was injured.

Cadyville Fire Chief James Favaro said the sugar shack, located at 25 Clark Hill Road in Saranac, was privately owned and the owners were present at the site when fire departments responded.

The call was initially dispatched shortly after 2 p.m.

About 20 firefighters from fire departments from Saranac, Cadyville and Dannemora worked to extinguish the blaze, Favaro said.

Favaro said the Cadyville Volunteer Fire Department was back in service at about 3:45 p.m.

He was unsure if the owners had insurance.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Favaro said.

A representative from the Saranac Volunteer Fire Department who was present at the fire could not be reached Friday.
