Elizabethtown sets brush dump days

ELIZABETHTOWN — The Elizabethtown brush dump will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. three Saturdays this summer: today, July 27 and Aug. 31.

Residents may bring leaves, brush, small limbs and grass clippings. No lumber, stumps or logs over 3 inches in diameter are allowed.

Those bringing in brush are asked to drive back into the brush pit to deposit material and to not leave it on the roadside.

Section of Broad Street to be closed Monday

PLATTSBURGH — In the City of Plattsburgh, Broad Street will be closed from Draper Avenue to Beekman Street starting Monday.

The street will be closed through Wednesday, July 3, for repaving of the site of the recent water-main break.

Fuller Excavation will repair the pavement from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day until the job is complete.

Rouses Point wants brush piles removed

ROUSES POINT — The Village of Rouses Point is requesting residents who have brush piles placed in front of their property to remove them as soon as possible by placing them in backyards or taken to another location outside the village.

Residents are allowed to bring their leaves and small clippings to the compost area. It is required that you empty the leaves and do not leave in plastic bags. Violators will be prosecuted.

If residents continue to place brush piles in the front of their property to be picked up by the village, they will be cited, per Village Code Chapter 90 Property Maintenance, by the code-enforcement officer.

The village holds an annual brush/leaf pickup in the spring and again in the fall. These will be the only pickups by the village.
