AuSABLE FORKS — The ninth-annual Christmas in the Forks, an old-fashioned town Yuletide Christmas, will include a tree lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. today at the Community Center.
“Many hands help to make Christmas in the Forks glorious each year,” Chair Helen Wirt-Kennedy said in a news release. “(They) make this night magical for children of all ages.”
The AuSable Forks Clock Park Christmas tree is donated this year by Roger and Cindy Douglas of Clintonville.
The day kicks off with the Jingle Bell Fun Run at 12:30 p.m., sponsored by AuSable Forks Revitalization Committee, followed at 1:30 p.m. by Ring in Christmas with hot cocoa and angels at Holy Name Church; Christmas Craft Time at St. James Episcopal Church, 2 p.m.; Story Hour with Mrs. Claus at AuSable Forks Library, 2:30 p.m.; the Christmas Story and Song at St. James Episcopal Church, 3 p.m.; Children’s Movies at the Hollywood Theatre, 4 and 7 p.m., sponsored by the AuSable Forks Fire Department; and visit with Santa, Mrs. Claus and the Christmas characters (cookies and juice will be served) at Town of Jay Community Center, sponsored by the Town of Jay Beautification Committee, at 6:45 p.m.
Sunday, the Fire Department and Ladies Auxiliary will hold a Christmas Breakfast at the firehouse starting at 7 a.m.
“The annual tree lighting has become a tradition in our small town,” Jay Town Supervisor Randall Douglas said in the release. “It’s our official kickoff to the holiday season and brings us all together.”
