Death of man found in woods not suspicious
DUANE — Foul play is not suspected in the death of Christopher Moore, 45, of Malone, whose body was found in the woods on Thursday night.
An autopsy was scheduled for late Friday to determine what killed Moore, who was located by volunteer searchers at about 6:45 p.m. off Pond Road (Franklin County Route 27) in the Town of Duane.
Moore had been dropped off to go fishing on Wednesday with plans to be picked up later at the same site, authorities said.
But he failed to show up at the rendezvous spot, and his family reported him missing to the State Police about 12:30 a.m. Thursday, according to a news release from the State Police Troop B headquarters in Ray Brook.
A search began for the missing man that included a State Police Canine Unit, the State Department of Environmental Conservation, volunteers from the Duane Fire Department and an aviation unit from the U.S. Division of Homeland Security.
Moore was found in the woods off Pond Road, and the investigation into his death was continuing on Friday.
The autopsy was to take place at Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone.
