PLATTSBURGH — The Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boys’ hockey showdown for first place between Plattsburgh High and Beekmantown, originally scheduled for Fridayt at the Ameri-Can North Sports Center, has been moved to 7:15 p.m. on Monday at AC-North.
American Legion Post 1619 Big Buck results listed
PLATTSBURGH — Kevin Pelkey won the coveted green jacket at the American Legion Post 1619 big buck contest with an 8-point, 178-pound buck. Chuck Bedard was credited with second, capturing a 10-point, 176-pound buck, while Randy Rocky grabbed third with his 8-point, 168-pounder.
The big bear was Bill Siskavich at 258-pounds, while Fuzz Bruno collected the little bear with a 78-pounder. There were six hidden buck winners with four no-buck winners. There were 146 total entries in the event.
contests open to northern tier kids
MOOERS — The Mooers Knights of Columbus Council and Champlain K of C Council will hold their free-throw championship contests simultaneously Feb. 10. The event will be held in the Champlain St. Mary’s Gym, starting at noon with registration beginning at 11:30 a.m. Proof of age will be required if winners are interested in advancing to the next high district level contest at their individual levels. Lake Champlain Waves swim team excels at Pilgrims Pride Meet
TROY — The Lake Champlain Waves swim team sent 22 swimmers to the annual Pilgrims Pride meet held at the Robinson Pool on the campus of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Nov. 18. The Waves were represented by Olivia Barnett, Sydney Barnett, Cydney Bond, Stella Boolukos-Brinker, Isabella Brown, Wyatt Brown, Matthew Evans, Mikayla Fountain, Spencer Hall, Avery Kuhn, Emelia Lemza, Madeline Lemza, Garret Lemza, Cameron Matthews, Emily McLane, Luke Moore, Caroline Nizel, Mikaela Raymond, Zackary Raymond, Hayden Reidy, Meghan Sorrell and Theadora Welch.
Out of 500 total swimmers participating in the annual meet, Bond improved her 50 butterfly time by 11.30 seconds and McLane improved her 50 backstroke time by 13.13 seconds. Isabella Brown placed first in the 50 freestyle and 50 breaststroke. Other top-ten finishers for the Waves were Evans, placing third in the 50 freestyle and Garrett Lemza, placing eighth in the 50 breaststroke and ninth in the 100 freestyle.
