PLATTSBURGH — A Peru woman was charged with grand larceny and forgery for allegedly stealing money from a blind man.

Angie McKee, 36, was charged Wednesday with third-degree grand larceny and second-degree forgery, both felonies.

In the time leading up to McKee’s arrest, two sisters of a local man who is legally blind discovered anomalies with his checking records, Plattsburgh City Police Lt. Scott Beebie said.

When they conducted further research, the two women found checks not authorized by their brother were made out either to McKee or to “cash,” Beebie said.

McKee, who is an acquaintance of the family, allegedly stole $7,700 from the victim over the course of several months starting in late 2012, he said.

McKee was arraigned in Plattsburgh City Court and sent to Clinton County Jail. She posted a $16,000 bond Thursday, according to the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department.

She is scheduled to appear before Judge Mark Rogers in City Court at 8:30 a.m. April 10.
