CLINTONVILLE — The Family School Association of AuSable Valley Central will host a State Testing Forum on Monday, June 3.
The event, which is open to the public, will begin at 7 p.m. in the AuSable Valley Middle High School Auditorium and will feature a number of panelists.
The discussion will center on state assessments, their evolution into high-stakes tests, the Common Core Curriculum and what these initiatives mean for public schools.
Panelists will include Board of Regents member James Dawson; Champlain Valley Educational Services Assistant Superintendent Teri Calabrese-Gray; Dr. Doug Selwyn, a professor of education at SUNY Plattsburgh; former SUNY Plattsburgh professor of education Dr. Bob Arnold; Kris Nielson, author of “Children of the Core;” AVCS Superintendent Paul Savage; AVCS Board member Scott Bombard; Aimee Defayette, principal of AuSable Valley High School; AuSable Forks Elementary Principal Ginene Mason; Phil Mero, principal of AuSable Valley Middle School; Keeseville Elementary Principal Kevin Hulbert; AuSable Valley Teachers Association President Rod Driscoll; Tim Butler, a teacher at Keeseville Elementary; and a child psychologist from Behavioral Health Services North, not yet designated.
In addition to the panelists’ discussion, a large portion of the evening will be dedicated to questions and answers.
