Moutaineers knock off Panthers in MVAC baseball



“It was a well played defensive game,” Munn said. “It was a fun game to be apart of when everything goes back and forth and clean like it was. Anybody could’ve won, and it was a big win for us.”

Kodie Simpson, Dustin Miller and Roger Preston paced the Patriots with two hits each.

Beekmantown 13, Saranac 0

SARANAC — The Eagles sent 14 batters to the plate in the fifth inning and scored 11 runs on their way to a win over the Chiefs.

Beekmantown held a 2-0 lead prior to the fifth-inning uprising.

“It was a real good game until the fifth,” Saranac coach Frank Trudeau said. “Then the wheels came off.”

Winning pitcher Greg Manney went the first six shutout innings and struck out two.

Austin Bradish led the Eagles offensively with three singles and a double, while Brandon Buksa added three hits. Devin Fessette, Justin Stevens and Zach Myers chipped in with two hits apiece, with Fessette getting a double.

Caleb Keysor accounted for two of Saranac’s four hits, and Nate Stanton was the losing pitcher.

Moriah 14, Westport 4

PORT HENRY —Jordan Greenough hit a triple and a single and drove in three runs to help the Vikings beat the Eagles.

C.J. Raymond added two RBI, and he also struck out seven batters in four innings to earn the pitching win. Dakota Marcotte had two hits for Moriah

Tyrell Tryon rapped two hits for Westport. Gabe Schrauf took the loss.
