Run to the Beer Tent event July 4

JAY — The 3rd-Annual Run to the Beer Tent, to benefit the Jay Fire Department, will take place on July 4. Registration begins at 10 a.m. in front of Devin’s Garage in Jay, with the three-mile run starting at 10:30 a.m.

The registration fee of $15 includes one food item, one drink and a t-shirt. For additional information, call 578-3551


Betsy Ross Tournament July 4

PLATTSBURGH — The Barracks Golf Course will hold it Annual Betsy Ross Red, White and Blue Golf Tournament Thursday, July 4, with tee times starting at 8 a.m. The format is two-man teams using full handicap. Golfers will take their combined score and subtract their total handicap. Example: Team A shoots a combined score of 165 (83 and 82), and their combined handicap is 15. Their net score would be 150.

Players will tee off the red tees on the first hole, the white tees on the second hole and the blue tees on the third hole. They will continue this order all the way to the18. Entry fee is $25 for members and $55 for non-members and does include skins. You can sign up at the Barracks or call Mike Dodds at 593-2792.


Hannah’s Hope tourney Sunday

PERU — The Mike Mannix/Hannah’s Hope Golf Tournament is Sunday at Adirondack Golf Course. Participants are asked to register no later than 7:30 a.m. for the 8 a.m. shotgun start. Piller, Murray lead bicycle time trials

POINT AU ROCHE — Jack Piller rode the 10-mile course in 23:15 to win the weekly bicycle time trials over Jason Amoriell and Matthew Speirs. The first woman to finish was Lynne Murray in 25:54.

The time trials are held every Wednesday eveining at the Point Au Roche firehouse on Lakeshore Road. The event is free and open to all novice and experienced riders, road bikes and mountain bikes. Helmets are required and riders must obey the rules of the road. Sign-up starts at 5:30 p.m. and the first rider goes off at 6 p.m. Riders interested in the 25-mile event should plan to start 15 to 30 minutes earlier.

Northern Insuring/Chamber golf tourney July 19

PERU — The Annual Northern Insuring/Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament will be held Friday, July 19 with a 10 a.m. shotgun start at Adirondack Golf & Country Club. Four-person teams must be entered and entry fee is $495 per team. It includes greens fees, carts, lunch for four, dinner for four and games on every hole.
