BOMBAY -- A Franklin County man was indicted for his alleged involvement in an early morning robbery that ended in the shooting death of a Norfolk man.

Brian J. Latulipe, 27, of 73 Reardon Road was indicted by a federal grand jury on a charge of conspiracy to commit robbery, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Glenn Suddaby and St. Lawrence County District Attorney Nicole Duve.

The indictment states that Latulipe "with others known and unknown to the grand jury" planned "by use of physical force" to rob Daniel Simonds on May 13 about 12:30 a.m. and take an undisclosed amount of marijuana from him at his home at 649 Porter-Lynch Road.

"While at the residence, they did beat and shoot Simonds before fleeing the scene. Simonds died of the gunshot wound seven hours later at a hospital in Vermont," the release states.

Latulipe was arraigned in U.S. District Court in Syracuse on Friday and will be held without bail until a scheduled hearing Wednesday.

He could face up to 20 years in federal prison, five years of post-release supervision and a fine of up to $250,000, if convicted.
