Cougars defeat host Vikings
PORT HENRY -- Northeastern Clinton got timely hitting to get past Moriah, 3-2, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls' softball Friday.
Danielle Tierney had the big hit of the day with a two-run, two-out triple in the top of the third to help the Cougars take an early 3-0 lead.
The Vikings came back in the bottom of the fifth with two runs. Kayla Gagnon drove in a run with a triple, but Moriah left the bases loaded.
Magan Bechard was the only player in the game with two or more hits, having two singles for NCCS (6-3).
Winning pitcher Chelsea Barcomb went the distance, striking out four and walking five.
Samantha Slattery pitched a complete game, striking out six and walking three for the Vikings (5-3).

CLINTONVILLE -- Keely Dew had three hits and three RBI on the day to help the Indians past the Patriots.
Dew had two singles and added a two-run homer in the top of the third inning to break the game open for Peru.
