CHAMPLAIN — A New Jersey man was charged Feb. 9 with criminal possession of stolen property after he was allegedly found driving a stolen car.
At 8:54 a.m., State Police were called to 1038 Route 11 in the Town of Champlain assist Border Patrol with a person that was being uncooperative with an investigation, State Police said.
Border Patrol had stopped a 2007 Ford Expedition marked NFTA (Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority Police), police said.
The driver, Roy J. Assan, 26, of Union City, N.J., gave police a false name and date of birth, police said.
The vehicle was had been reported stolen by the NFTA in Buffalo earlier that day.
Assan was charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony, and false personation, a misdemeanor.
He was arraigned and sent to Clinton County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond.
PLATTSBURGH — A Plattsburgh woman was injured Feb. 13 in a two-car accident.
Shortly before 10:46 a.m., Christina S. Guido, 50, of Plattsburgh and Ronald S. Bushey, 73, of Lyon Mountain were both traveling side by side northbound on Centre Drive in the Town of Plattsburgh, preparing to make a left-hand turn onto Route 3, State Police said.
Guido was traveling in the right lane and Trombley in the left and while making the turn, the two cars veered into each other, colliding, police said.
Guido was taken to CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh after she complained of neck pain, police said.
Bushey was not injured, police said, and no tickets were issued.
PERU — A Plattsburgh man was injured Feb. 6 in a one-vehicle accident.
Shortly before 1:57 p.m., Francis N. Tuper, 32, was driving a tractor trailer south on Route 22 in the Town of Peru when he lost control, hit a snow embankment, five mailboxes and a metal culvert grate, State Police said.
Then in the South Acres Mobile Home Park entrance driveway, the truck became airborne, struck a stop sign, a NYSEG pole, a Charter cable pole, a Verizon telephone pole and a street lamp, landing off the roadway in a field, police said.
The truck was demolished, police said, and the trailer was empty.
Tuper was taken to CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh for treatment of facial injuries, police said.
He was ticketed for failure to maintain lane.
