City micromanagement

TO THE EDITOR: It is bad enough we have a “do-nothing” Congress, and now it appears we have a “do-nothing” Common Council.

They spent more time on passing another law regarding snow shoveling of sidewalks than the issue of the building on Dock Street.

The initial cost of $30,000 to clean up that area certainly seems reasonable; then it gets reduced to about $17,000, and still nothing is done.

It is time for the Common Council to stop micromanaging and let the mayor and department heads do their jobs.

If this council wants to micromanage, let them pick up a shovel and help the Department of Public Works fill in the potholes.

Food donations

TO THE EDITOR: A heartfelt thanks to the U.S. Postal employees in the Mooers and Mooers Forks offices for their efforts on behalf of the Mooers Wesleyan Food Pantry during the Postal Collection of May 10.

An equal amount of thanks goes out to the residents of Mooers and Mooers Forks who so generously donated food to the pantry. The number of items collected this year exceeded the number of items collected in each of the previous years.

The need in our area continues to rise, but that need is met through the continuous generosity of community members. We are so fortunate to live among such giving people.

With gratitude to all.

National GOP

TO THE EDITOR: I’m mad as hell, and I hope everyone else is mad as hell.

The national GOP involving themselves in local campaigns and up to no good is disgusting, to say the least.

Elise Stefanik must feel she can’t make it on her own so she has to bring in the national GOP. She has already been doing things behind closed doors, and what does that tell you?

Elise Stefanik is a young woman already well steeped in politics, has no other career, so it is obvious she plans on making a career by being a U.S. representative.

We do not need any more career politicians. Many people who work in government are there because they are not capable of working in the private sector, Elise. Stefanik knows nothing about Upstate New York or the people who live here.

Think twice before you vote. In plain unadulterated words that everyone understands, we do not need any more underhanded, lying stinking politicians in Washington; we already have too many.

I will be voting for Matt Doheny or not at all.
