Regina (O'Kusky) Varno

MINEVILLE, N.Y. — On Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, Regina Varno of Mineville, N.Y., passed away at the Community Hospital in Elizabethtown, N.Y.

Regina was one of 10 children born to Constant and Theodora O'Kusky of Witherbee, N.Y. She was born on Aug. 7, 1920.

She was a homemaker who took great pride in her yard and flower garden, and it showed.

Regina was predeceased by her parents, Constant and Theodora; her beloved husband, John; her sisters, Sophie Colburn, Anna Lopez, Irene Mazinsky and Helen Hebert; and her brother, Henry O'Kusky.

She is survived by her brothers, Constant O'Kusky of Lewis, N.Y., and Carl (Joyce) O'Kusky of Witherbee, N.Y.; her sisters, Jennie Fields of Elizabethtown, N.Y., and Josephine Yelle of Witherbee, N.Y. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, Nov. 9, at 10 a.m. at the All Saints Church in Mineville, N.Y.

Donations may be made to the Moriah Ambulance Squad, Moriah Center, NY 12960 or the Mineville/Witherbee Fire Department, 12956.

Following graveside services at the Saint Peter and Paul Cemetery in Moriah, N.Y., a reception will be held at Cheney's Restaurant on Church Street in Port Henry, N.Y.
