---- — ELIZABETHTOWN, NY — George Craig Ludlow (Craig), 84, died Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at his home in Elizabethtown.
Craig leaves his daughter, Amy Chamberlain, Ludlow; son, George Craig Ludlow Jr.; three grandchildren, Katherine Louise, Anne Chamberlain and Sarah Gallatin Ludlow; and a sister, Ann Jackson. His wife, Louise McGuinness Ludlow, passed away in 2007, after 48 years of marriage.
Born in Manhattan, Craig spent most of his childhood in Conn. (New Canaan, and New London) where he was raised with his three siblings. He graduated from Millbrook School (Millbrook, N.Y.) in 1946, then earned a Bachelor's degree from Trinity College in Hartford, Conn., in 1951. After college, Craig enlisted in the Navy and served on the U.S.S. Missouri during the Korean War.
In 1958, Craig and Louise (Muffy) McGuinness were married in Philadelphia, Pa. After accepting a position with Pan American World Airways, they lived in Houston, Texas, Washington, DC and eventually Fair Haven, N.J., where Craig and Muffy raised their family.
Craig was with Pan American for 29 years where he held a number of positions in advertising and marketing and publications (including Pan Am's World Guide). As a lifelong stamp collector, Craig was known for his unique and extensive collection of Pan Am stamps, which he donated to the Pan Am Historical Society in 2008.
In addition to being a terrific husband, father and grandfather, Craig was an avid sailor, handyman, historian, traveler, greyhound lover and volunteer. He was an active board member of Keene Valley Neighborhood House, Sr. Warden at The Church of the Good Shepherd, in Elizabethtown, and volunteer archivist at the Essex County Historical Society.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 8th at the Church of the Good Shepherd at 10 Williams Street, Elizabethtown, NY, 12932.
In lieu of flowers, Craig has requested that donations be made to the Keene Valley Neighborhood House, PO Box 46, Keene Valley, NY 12943.
