---- — MORIAH — Edwin Karl Pooler, 75, of North Hudson Road, Moriah Center, passed away on Sept. 18, 2013, at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury, Vt., with his family by his side.

Born Dec. 31, 1936, in Moriah Center, he is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara Hughes Pooler; his daughter, Erin Pooler-Prevette (John Hickey); his adopted daughter, Kim Briggs (Dan O'Brien); granddaughter, Mikayla Pooler (Cody Taylor); grandson, Curtis Prevette; and his sister, Jean Garen; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Karl and Grace Fountain Pooler; his brothers, Robert Pooler and Fred Pooler; and his aunt, Edna Hillman; who he was raised by since age seven at the loss of his mother.

After high school, Ed served in the US Navy from 1955-1959. After an honorable discharge, he returned to Moriah to run the family farm, the Hillman farm, on North Hudson Road. In 1969, he attended the Riverside School of Aeronautics in Utica for a year to become an aircraft mechanic. Over the next several years, he worked at Glens Falls Airport and Burlington Airport. In 1988, he started working for US Airways, where he worked until his retirement in 2003.

After retiring, he worked for the Meals on Wheels Program delivering meals in the Newcomb, Minerva and Moriah area. He was most recently the president of the South Moriah Cemetery Association. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, attending the blue grass music gathering in Ticonderoga, NY, spending time at Stewart's in Port Henry in the evening with his friends, Joe, Dell, Slim, Norm, and Gary. He also enjoyed going to the Daisy Morton Center on Fridays and Saturdays with Barbara visiting with Norm, Pam, Georgie and Tom.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at Moriah Methodist Church, Moriah, NY. Burial will follow at South Moriah Cemetery.
