WESTPORT — Elizabeth Mae Tryon, 82, better known as "Betty" or "Grammy" of Westport, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, with her daughter by her side.
She was born to the late LeRoy and Sadie Bowman on July 6, 1931, in Pennsylvania.
A very creative and talented woman from creating her Halloween costumes to telling her stories. She had a way of bringing out the beauty in everything. Strong and hard headed and living alone for 17 plus years, loving her kitties, keeping house, gardening and keeping the fire burning. She pushed herself and those around her to the limit right up until the moment she passed. Her wise words "There's NOTHING you can't do" still ring loudly in our ears. Mostly Grammy was loving with a heart a mile wide. Always helping a friend, and lending an ear. She forgave when others would have turned their backs.
Grammy, truly an amazing woman who is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Leland and Melvia Bowman of Lockport, N.Y.; her daughter and son-in-law, Tammie and Mike Aubin and their children, Amber and Dustin, another daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Russ Burke and their daughter Leah Puleo; and grandchildren, Cayden and Devlin; and her love Raymond Marcres.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Crown Point Bridge Campsite light house. We ask that everyone wear a shade of blue, as it is her favorite color.
"Now the lights glow in the windows. Chimney smoke climbs high into the sky. As I walk the path to my back door, lonely mountains whisper soft...goodnight." - Elizabeth Tryon
