PLATTSBURGH — John C. Ricci, 84, formerly of Morrisonville, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, just a week short of his 85th birthday at Clinton County Nursing Home, with his wife, Dorothy, of 61 years by his side.
He was born on Sept. 10, 1928 in Providence, R.I., the son of James and Florence (Christensen) Ricci.
John retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service. He then served as Ground Safety Officer at Plattsburgh Air Force Base for 10 years. He organized and ran the North Country Flea Market Association.
John and Dorothy spent 35 summers selling at Flea Markets in N.Y. and Vt. He was also active in the United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, American Military Retirees Association, May Currier Senior Group, American Legion and DAV.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Ricci of Plattsburgh; one daughter, Barbara Bissonnette and her husband Leon of St. George, Utah; three brothers, James and Robert Ricci of R.I. and Richard Ricci of Fla.; and one sister, Florence LaGreca of R.I.
He was predeceased by his parents, three sisters, Evelyn Souza, Lucille Palmerie and Elizabeth Monti.
Calling hours will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, at the R. W. Walker Funeral Home, 69 Court Street, Plattsburgh with a funeral service to follow in the Robert W. Walker Memorial Chapel. Entombment will follow in Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens in Plattsburgh.
In lieu of flowers, his family request donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country.
