---- — TICONDEROGA — Betty L. Stone, 85, of Ticonderoga, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at Heritage Commons Residential Healthcare of Ticonderoga.

Born in Ticonderoga, Feb. 6, 1928, she was the daughter of the late John and Bessie (Taylor) May.

Betty spent her childhood in Graphite with her parents and her sister Corrinne. She then moved to Ticonderoga where she and her husband, William J. Stone raised their family.

She was employed as a nurse at the Moses-Ludington Hospital and Nursing Home for more than 40 years and was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Ticonderoga.

Betty was pre-deceased by her parents; and also by her sister, Corrinne Stanilka.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, William J. Stone; one daughter, Sue M. Velasquez and her husband Darryl of El Paso, Texas; and two sons, Michael J. Stone and his wife Mary Jane of Vergennes, Vt., and Peter J. Stone of Ticonderoga. She is also survived by six grandchildren.

Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, August 26, 2013 at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga.

A Funeral Service will follow at 6 p.m. on Monday at the Funeral Home. The Rev. Mr. Elliott A. Shaw will officiate.

The Rite of Committal will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 27th at the family plot of St. Mary's Parish Cemetery of Ticonderoga.
