ALTONA - Mrs. Gloria L. Collins, 90, of Military Turnpike in Altona, died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at her home with family by her side and under the care of Hospice of the North Country.
She was born in Plattsburgh on Aug. 11, 1923, the daughter of the late Willis and Lydia (Ferguson) Golden.
Gloria enjoyed embroidery, coloring and spending time with her family.
She is survived by five daughters and four sons-in-law, Virginia and Don Van Nortwick, Colleen and Raymond LaSalle,^ Mary Collins and companion Arthur LaSalle, Carol and Lawrence Baker, all of Plattsburgh, Bonnie and Stanley Tomkiewicz of Covington, Ga.; 15 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A special honorary mention of granddaughter Sonya Hebert who cared for Gloria in her later years and final hours.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Collins; and a brother, Willis Golden Jr.
Calling hours will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28, at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St. in Plattsburgh. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery in Redford. Memorial donations may be offered to Hospice of the North Country.
