Harold R. Marshall

MORRISONVILLE- — Harold Richard Marshall, 91, passed away in his Morrisonville home Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, surrounded by his loving wife, family and care givers.

Harold was born May 2, 1921 in Skerry, N.Y. to Merton and Jennie (Merritt) Marshall.

Harold was a jack of all trades, a hard working man who had many jobs to provide for his family. He farmed, cut wood, plowed snow and for 30 years he worked as a stationary engineer for the SUNY system.

Harold loved his wife, children and their families and dedicated his life to them. He and his wife were very active in the Schuyler Falls Methodist church and could frequently be seen working the booth at the county fair and helping out at church dinners. Harold loved spending time and getting together with his family and friends. He was always there to lend a helping hand with their home improvement projects.

Harold had several hobbies and interests. In his prime he was an avid fiddler. He played in a band that would frequent kitchen hops. Papa would even bring his fiddle out from time to time to play for his grandchildren. Harold enjoyed apple picking, woodworking and took great pride in his gardening. He was a north countryman through and through and always enjoyed maple sugar on snow and could never get enough of a good fire.

He's survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Olga (LaBelle) Marshall who he married in North Bangor, N.Y. on June 15, 1942; his brother, Guy Marshall; his three children, Claude of Morrisonville, Sally and her husband Darwin Turner of Mooers and Beth and her husband William Groshans of Sciota; his grandchildren, Laura, Dawn, Heather, Heidi, and Hans and their spouses; and his great-grandchildren, Dustin, Troy and Felicity.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brothers, Carl and Eugene Marshall; and his sister, Erma (Marshall) Clukey.
