SARANAC — Mark B. O'Connell, 57, of Standish Road, Saranac, died on Wednesday Jan. 16, 2013, at his home.
He was born in Plattsburgh on Sept. 2, 1955, the son of Bernard and Thelma (Bessette) O'Connell.
He graduated from Mount Assumption Institute in 1973. Mark began working for the New York State Department of Corrections, later retiring as a Lieutenant in 2006. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a member of the Northern Peak Hunting Club, where he had countless friends.
Mark was predeceased by his parents; and his brother Francis O'Connell. He is survived by a niece Rebecca Langlois and her husband Scott Langlois and son Colton Francis Langlois of Chazy Lake; a nephew, Chris Mark O'Connell and his children, Chasidy Marie O'Connell and Zachary Taylor Collado of Keeseville, several cousins also survive him.
Calling will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 21, at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22, at St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will be in Cadyville Protestant Cemetery later in the year.
