— WESTPORT -Margaret Marie Atwell, 84, of Eagle Lane, Westport, died Sunday, July 28, 2013, at her home.
She was born in Westport, Nov. 29, 1928, the daughter of Francis E. and Florence E. (Scott) Merrow. She grew up in Westport and graduated from Westport High School.
Margaret worked at the Champlain National Bank in Westport and Elizabethtown for several years. She was a member of the Lasher-Still American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Westport, and the Westport Hose Co. Ladies Auxiliary.
She enjoyed traveling, and morning walks, but her true love was spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Randy and Dora Atwell of Westport, Rick Atwell and Evelyn Baker of Westport, Bonnie Hathaway and David Westover of Hudson Falls, and Terry and Jana Atwell of Westport; six grandchildren and spouses, Colleen and Mike Caezza, Bradley and Nicole Hathaway, Morgan and Alexandra Atwell, Matthew and Danielle Atwell, Tyler Atwell and companion Cortney Brown, and Taylor Atwell; seven great-grandchildren, Dominic Caezza, Kaitlin and Reagan Hathaway, Stella and Georgia Atwell, and Addy and Elsa Atwell; two sisters, Ruth Donaldson of Westport, and twin sister, Marjorie Garcia of Westport; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Trapasso and husband, Tony, Harriet Abrams and husband, Ernie, and Judy Barton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Ralph L. Atwell, Jr., Dec. 19, 2005; brothers, George, Robert, and Francis Meko; sister, Ellen LaMountain; sister-in-law, Helen Shedd; and brother-in-law, Donald Atwell.
Relatives and friends may call from Noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, August 1, at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Fred Shaw, officiating. Committal prayers and burial will follow in the Black River Cemetery in Westport.
