Marie Flora Tremblay

PLATTSBURGH — Marie Flora Tremblay, 93, of Champlain, died Saturday, May 4, at CVPH Medical Center's Skilled Nursing Facility, with loving family by her side.

She was born in Champlain on Feb. 25, 1920, daughter of John and Delia (Mesec) Belrose.

She is survived by three daughters, Pauline Marie Brindisi of Rouses Point, Audrey Ann "Dee Dee" Brown and husband, Ronald, of Chazy, and Donna Deane Gero of Champlain; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Arsene N. Tremblay, died in 1978.

She was predeceased by six sisters, Harriet Favreau, Bertha Mesec, Madeline Burl, Lydia Matott, Dora Glaude and Mary Matott; and six brothers, John, Adolph, Abraham, Albert, Jerome and Roland Belrose.

Marie owned and operated Riverside Garage restaurant in Chazy, was an antique dealer and a seamstress who sewed wedding gowns and other clothing; among her clientele was legendary vocalist Kate Smith.

She worked very hard all her life, even as a child. Summers, she, some of her siblings and her father harvested blueberries on the Flat Rock in Altona; she always remembered with fondness visits there from Chazy philanthropist William H. Miner, whom she called "Uncle."

Marie's faith was deep and abiding. For many years, she led prayer meetings.

A graveside service will take place, rain or shine, at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, in St. Mary's Parish Cemetery on Church Street in Champlain. A reception will follow at Time After Time Reception (the former American Legion hall), 127 Elm Street in Champlain.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Marie's memory may be made to Champlain EMS, 162 Elm St., Champlain NY 12919.

Arrangements are with M.B. Clark Funeral Home in Champlain.
