CADYVILLE — Ann Louise Downs, 85, of the Downs Road, Cadyville, joined her loving husband Hubert, Tuesday, April 30, 2013 from the CVPH Medical Center, with her loving family by her side. She joined him just days after what would have been their 61 wedding anniversary.
She was born in Flint, Mich., Dec. 8, 1927, the daughter of the late Willard and Grace (Mitchell) Smith. She grew up in Champlain and graduated from Champlain High School in 1944.
Ann worked for Sheridan Iron Works in Champlain for several years. After marrying Hubert, April 26, 1952, they began raising their family of 9 children. She began working as a nurses aide for CVPH Medical Center, and later privately on her own in many homes.
Among "Mom's" many interests, she enjoyed reading, knitting, camping, and caring for others, but her true love was spending time with her family. Camping is a family passion and there will always be a special spot at the Papa fire. She took great joy in watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow and flourish.
