---- — MERRILL — Rodney R. Collins, 54, of the Harris Rd., Merrill, died Monday, April 29, 2013, at his home under the care of his loving family and Hospice of the North Country.
Born in Malone, N.Y., on Oct. 28, 1958, he was the son of William "Bill" and Florence (Ormsbee) Collins Sr.
He was married to Janet Siskavich on Sept. 10, 1988 in St. Bernard's Church, Lyon Mountain by Deacon Francis Siskavich and Rev. Wiley.
Rodney graduated from North Adirondack Central School. He was employed as a laborer by Local 186 Labor Union, Tracey Trombley Construction and Tony Bouchard Construction. He was a communicant of St. Bernard's Church, Lyon Mountain and a member of the Poker Lodge, Merrill. Rodney enjoyed the outdoors and watching wildlife from Poker Lodge. He loved playing golf especially with his son, Holden when he could. He also loved cutting trees, clearing his land, and making trails to ride his Kubota. Most recently, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, mother, children and grandchildren.
Rodney is survived by his wife of 24 years who he has been with for 31 years; his mother of Merrill; a daughter and son-in-law, Billie Jo and Jason Carter of Merrill; a son, Holden F. Collins of Plattsburgh; four siblings, Peggy Legacy of Brainardsville, Sue Collins of Burlington, Vt., Calvin Collins of Merrill, Diane and Chris Arnesen of Merrill; two grandchildren, Jaiden Menard and Caleb Carter; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Francis and Myrtle Siskavich of Lyon Mountain; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bernard and Blanch Siskavich of Wanakena, Paula Siskavich of Lyon Mountain, Kathleen Young of Lyon Mountain, Anna and Keith Morey of Ancramdale, Francis and Donna Siskavich Jr. of Plattsburgh, Margaret Pittman of Poughkeepsie, Mary and Robert Poitras of Lyon Mountain, Rita and Thomas Benjamin of Mooers, Eva and Ronald Parsons of Peru, Sandra and Harold Derr of Altona, Veronica and Robert Demers of Altona, Peter and Shelby Siskavich of Cadyville; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father William "Bill" Collins Sr.; and a brother,William "Billy" Collins Jr.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1 at Chateaugay Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 2 in St. Bernard's Church with Rev. Ted Crosby officiating, and Deacon Francis Siskavich assisting.
