Gary D. Bruno

SCHUYLER FALLS — Gary D. Bruno, 70, of Lindy Lane, Schuyler Falls, died Saturday, April 27, 2013 at his home under the loving care of his family and Hospice of the North Country.

He was born in Plattsburgh, Nov. 10, 1942, the son of Kenneth and Esther (Corron) Bruno. Gary grew up, and attended school in Schuyler Falls. He joined the United States Marine Corps Jan. 3, 1961 and proudly served until he was honorably discharged, Jan. 2, 1965.

Gary was a member of the Carpenters and Joiners Union Local 1042 and worked at various locations until 1984. Most notably he worked on the 1980 Olympic Ski Jump in Lake Placid. In 1984 he began working as a carpenter for NYS Correction Facilities. He retired in 2004 from Altona Correctional.

Gary was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed fishing and hunting with his family and special hunting friends. He was a gentleman farmer, and enjoyed raising pigs, cows, and chickens. His true love however was spending time with family, and keeping in touch with his many friends, especially his Marine Corps acquaintances. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1618 in Saranac.

Survivors include his loving wife, Patricia M. (Hannahs) Bruno; children, Gary Bruno Jr. and his wife, Brigid of Severna Park, Md., David Bruno and his wife, Carolyn of Virgina Beach, Va, Cheryl Bruno of Lincolnton, N.C., and Vernon Horton and his wife, Bobbie of Duncannon, Pa.; step-children, Karen Horton of New Cumberland, Pa., and David Horton and his wife, Sue of York Haven, Pa.; adopted children, Jeffrey Garrow and his wife, Alicia of Schuyler Falls, and Jamiee Frenyea of Peru; siblings, Janice Rauer and her husband, Charles of Lutz, Fla., Lanny Bruno of Peru, Terry Bruno and fiance, Nancy Graham of Hudson Falls, Starr Perez and her husband Eli of Peru, Donna Bruno-Mitchell and her husband, Michael of Hudson, Fla., Kenneth Bruno and his wife, Tracey of Land O'Lakes, Fla., and Michael Bruno and his wife, Lisa of Plattsburgh; many wonderful cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren; and his loving boxer, Titan. He was predeceased by his parents.
