MINEVILLE — Kathryn H. Tromblee, 89, a resident of Mineville, N.Y., passed away April 27, 2013 with her loving family at her side.
Kathryn was born in Dannemora, N.Y., on Jan. 23, 1924, the daughter of Maude and Arthur Young.
Kathryn is predeceased by her husband Willis Tromblee; daughters, Louise (Tromblee) Smith and Patricia Tromblee; brothers, Paul and Thomas Young, sisters, Anne Annis and Audrey O'Hara.
Kathryn's survivors include her sister, Elizabeth Young; daughters, Lora Clarke of Moriah, Katrinka Tromblee of Witherbee, Debra Walsh of Port Henry, Katie Clarke and husband Tim Clark of Elizabethtown; sons, Charles and Willis Tromblee of Saranac Lake, and Peter Tromblee and wife Penny of Lewis. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren.
Kathryn loved her family and friends, cards, bingo and find-a-word. Visiting was her favorite pastime. Kathryn's strengths came from always being true to herself and saying what was on her mind. In 1928 Kathryn, a then four year old, was lost on Poke-O-Moonshine while blueberry picking and spent the night in the woods while search parties looked for her. She never lost her agate berry cup.
A special thanks to the many loving caregivers at the Horace Nye Nursing Home. Donations can be made to the Bingo Fund in the Activities Dept. at Horace Nye in Kathryn's memory.
Calling hours were held on Monday, April 29, 2013 at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at All Saints Church in Mineville, N.Y. Burial will be in St. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Moriah.
