Alan B. Defayette

PLATTSBURGH - Alan B. Defayette, 64, of Oswego Lane, passed away at his home, Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, with his loving wife by his side in the care of Hospice.

He was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y. on April 18, 1949, the son of Alfred and Ida (Miller) Defayette. Alan married Elaine Benesch on June 9, 2011, after a very lone engagement.

He graduated from Ellenburg Central School in June of 1969. Alan was a Vietnam Veteran who served in Vietnam from August of 1970 to Oct. of 1971 and received an Honorable Discharge from the United States Army on the 1st day of March 1976. He worked for Intrapac Plastics from 1972 until retiring in 2011 due to his illness.

He loved walking in the woods, snow shoeing, cutting wood, hunting, target practice, watching westerns and spending quality time with his loving wife.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine Defayette of Plattsburgh; step-mother, Lena Defayette of Plattsburgh; brother, Randy and Debbie Defayette of Ga.; step-brothers and sisters, Albert and Sue Carron of Fla., Victor and Wanda Carron of Plattsburgh, Raymond and Delphine Carron of Ind., Regina and Gary Connors of Plattsburgh and Alberta and John Porter of West Chazy; aunt, Hortense; uncle, Gilbert; and aunt Shirley; two very close cousins, Cathy Miller and Brenda Boulrice, many other cousins and a lot of friends.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13, at the R. W. Walker Funeral Home, 69 Court Street, Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in St. Edmund's Cemetery in Ellenburg in the spring.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country or the FitzPatrick Cancer Center.
