KEESEVILLE — Cynthia M. Rock, 54, of Pleasant Street, Keeseville, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Plattsburgh, July 22, 1959, the daughter of Leo L. Jr. and Laura M. (Coulombe) LaPorte.
Cindy was a lifetime resident of the Clinton County area. She later received her GED and Associates Degree from Clinton Community College. Cindy was an Army wife, supporting her husband through 6 years of active duty and 28 years of National Guard Service.
She was a born caregiver, and worked at Meadowbrook Healthcare for several years, and later cared for local folks in need. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother.
Cindy enjoyed visiting garage sales, shopping, going to Altona to play the slot machines, and spending time with her family. She was an avid antique collector, including dolls, clocks, and jewelry. Her vast knowledge of her collection made for interesting and enjoyable conversations with family and friends. Cindy also enjoyed flower gardening, and spending time with her two canine companions LuLu and Rufus.
Survivors include her loving husband, William Robert Rock of Keeseville; two daughters, Kamie Fretwell and husband Charles Fretwell of Peru, and Shannon Rock and her companion Colin DeHond of Keeseville; grandchildren, Elijah Rosen, Alisah Fretwell, and Ethan Fretwell, all of Peru; loving mother, Laura LaPorte of Keeseville; brother, Christopher LaPorte and wife Cindy; sisters, Christina Johansen and husband Eric Johansen of Fla., and Cheryl Rock and her companion Troy Atkinson of Plattsburgh; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father, Leo LaPorte Jr.; nephews, Curtis Johansen, and James Rock; and niece, April Mae McCray.
Calling hours will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014 at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m at the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in St. Augustine's Cemetery in Peru.
