— WEST CHAZY-Gerald M. "Mike" Bordeau, 84, returned to the arms of the Lord Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at the CVPH Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on May 18, 1929, the son of Wilfred and Bertha Bordeau. Mike worked for the Clinton County Sheriffs Department and in 1962 he began working at the Plattsburgh City Police Department. He retired in 1982 after 20 years of service. While he was a City Police Officer, he drove school bus for Beekmantown Central School, retiring in 1983.
In his younger days, he enjoyed playing and coaching baseball, salmon fishing, camping and traveling across the country with his wife and family. He also loved the casinos in Las Vegas and Atlantic City. He also loved getting together for family dinners, picnics and telling stories. He also enjoyed watching WWE wrestling with his grandchildren. Mike will be remembered as a kind, gentle, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Mike is survived by his children; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gerald M. and Brenda Bordeau of Ausable Forks and David J. Bordeau and his companion Jamie Trombley of Plattsburgh; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Sharron Bordeau of West Chazy, Karen and Robert Jock of Plattsburgh, Nancy and Kenneth Champain of West Chazy, Lori and Martin Relation of West Chazy and Helen and David Wentzel Sr. of West Chazy; ten grandchildren, Robert and his wife Ana, Christian and his wife Heather, Shari and her husband Tyler, Jennifer and Brian, Sarah and her husband Joseph, Andrea and her companion Sean, Kadyn, Justin, Heather and D.J.; his great-grandchildren, Kaetlyn, Jacob, Zachary, Cynthia, Allyssa, Lyndsey, Zandra and Emma; his sisters-in-law, Betty Gregory, Marie Brown; and several nieces and nephews.
Gerald was predeceased by his parents, Wilfred and Bertha Bordeau; his wife of 50 years, Mildred M. Bordeau; his granddaughter, Jessica Dawn Champain; his brothers, Wilfred, Robert, James and Phillip; and a sister, Bernadette Patrie.
Calling hours will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Wednesday, at St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh at a later date.
