PLATTSBURGH — James J. Sweeney III, 61, of South Cliff Manor died Sunday, April 21, 2013 at the CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Philadelphia on Dec. 22, 1951 the son of James J. and Anna May (Sofronsky) Sweeney, Jr.
Mr. Sweeney married the former Wimol Poosuwan in Thailand in 1973. He was an Air Force veteran, retiring in 1990 after 20 years of service. After
retiring, he was a clerk at the Comfort Inn for several years and was also the Assistant Director of Weights and Measures for Clinton Co. for 15 years.
Survivors include his wife, Wimol; two daughters, Viyachat Wright and her husband Mark of Dumfries, Va., and Viyada Alexander and her husband Michael of Charlotte, N.C.; one brother, Daniel Sweeney of Philadelphia, Pa.; two sisters, Kathryn Krulikowski and Patricia Carboni and her husband Frank, all of Pa.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at the R. W. Walker Funeral Home. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Our Lady of Victory Church. Burial will follow in Saratoga National Cemetery on Monday.
