Beatrice Annette Joy

AU SABLE FORKS — Beatrice Annette Joy, 94, of Au Sable Forks went to her heavenly home with the Lord Jesus on April 9 at CVPH. She passed peacefully, smiling with several family singing at her side. Bea simply viewed death as the beginning of a new, exciting journey with Christ!

Beatrice was born to Walter and Minnie Williams of Au Sable Forks, N.Y. She was married to General McKinley (Ted) Joy for 60 years. They were blessed with four children, Sally, Theodore, Bruce and Timothy. Through marriage of Sally (John) Sheldrake, Bruce (Marjorie), and Tim (Karen), Beatrice was further blessed with nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. (Sheldrake, Joy, Ducharme, Gilbert & Falce). She has enjoyed, loved and cherished them all for many years. She supported her husband by keeping records for his logging business. Bea was a member of the Au Sable Forks United Methodist Church and Secretary/Treasurer of the North Jay Cemetery Association. Bea also loved traveling, gardening, reading, attending church, music/singing, teaching Sunday school, and having family gatherings.

Beatrice was predeceased by her husband Ted (1998); and son, Theodore (1951); and also by her brother, Arthur Williams; and sisters, Dorothy Hansen and Marion Smith. Bea is survived by a sister Edna Pelkey and many dear extended family members.

There will be no funeral, instead a memorial service for family and friends will be held in the Au Sable Forks United Methodist Church. It is planned at 3 p.m. for May 5, 2013. Pastor Virginia Pierce will participate with the family in this memorial. This is a time to honor and celebrate Bea's life. Following the service, all are invited to gather for food & refreshments & visiting in the Church Hall, as she loved such times of fellowship. Thwaits- Zaumetzer Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.

If anyone wishes to make a memorial donation (in lieu of flowers), please send to the North Jay Cemetery Association, c/o Ken Joy (president), POB 412, Au Sable Forks, NY 12912. One of her passions was cemetery care & maintenance.
